Discipline
A dynamic discipline requiring shooters to hit targets crossing in front of them from two trap houses at opposite ends of a semicircular field.
Skeet shooting tests an athlete's ability to hit targets crossing at a variety of angles and speeds. The field features two trap houses — a high house on the left and a low house on the right — that launch targets along fixed crossing paths.
Shooters rotate through eight stations arranged in a semicircle between the two houses. At each station, athletes shoot singles from each house and doubles (both houses simultaneously) at select stations. A round consists of 25 targets.
Skeet demands exceptional hand-eye coordination and the ability to read crossing targets at varying distances. The best skeet shooters in the country regularly run 100-straight, making mental focus and consistency just as important as raw shooting ability.
